The French Riviera became a fashionable resort in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and was particularly popular with the British upper class.

The colors and the very particular luminostity of the region has delighted and inspired some of the most famous artists and personalities : Matisse, Renoir, Picasso, Chagall, Léger...

With more than hundred museums and over 150 Art Galleries, the French Riviera is actually the second artistic place in France after Paris.

During summer :
  • The French Riviera swings to the sound of Jazz with :
  • All summer the night sky also bursts into colour with firework festivals (Cannes, Monaco, Antibes…).

In autumn :

  • The International Boat Show takes place in Cannes - September.
  • The French Riviera also honours the traditional celebrations of towns and villages in the middle and high hinterland.
  • Chestnut, wine and mushroom festivals take place in villages such as Tende, Saorge and Saint-Martin-Vésubie.
