The French Riviera became a fashionable resort in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and was particularly popular with the British upper class. The colors and the very particular luminostity of the region has delighted and inspired some of the most famous artists and personalities : Matisse, Renoir, Picasso, Chagall, Léger... With more than hundred museums and over 150 Art Galleries, the French Riviera is actually the second artistic place in France after Paris.

Coastal attraction and mountain tops, famous tourist towns and villages off the beaten track, a thousand and one things to discover and a unique events calendar all year round !

All events and news

Winter on the French Riviera starts with Christmas celebrations: Provencal markets, “Santon” markets (markets selling traditional Provencal figurines), re-enactments of the nativity scene… In Cannes, the Cannes Shopping Festival - January. In Monaco, the International Circus Festival- January, followed in the months of February and March by other winter festivities including Menton Lemon Festival , Nice Carnival , “Combat Naval Fleuri” in Villefranche-sur-Mer and the Mimosa Festival in Mandelieu La Napoule.

Spring also offers great events such as Master’s Series Tennis Tournament in Monte-Carlo - April, Cannes International Film Festival - May , Formula 1 Grand Prix in Monaco - May, les Voiles d’Antibes - May...

During summer, The French Riviera swings to the sound of Jazz with “Jazz in Juan” - July and “Jazz in Nice” - July. All summer the night sky also bursts into colour with firework festivals (Cannes, Monaco, Antibes…). Other festivals not to be missed: the “Nuits du Sud” Festival in Vence - July and August, the “Nuits Musicales du Suquet” Festival in Cannes end of July, the Jasmine Festival in Grasse - August...

In autumn, The International Boat Show takes place in Cannes - September. The French Riviera also honours the traditional celebrations of towns and villages in the middle and high hinterland. Chestnut, wine and mushroom festivals take place in villages such as Tende, Saorge and Saint-Martin-Vésubie.
