In the heart of the French Riviera, Mougins is situated at 15 km away from Cannes and its beaches, 8 km from the perfumes city of Grasse and 50 km from the nearest ski resort. The old village of Mougins is like a citadel perched on its hill, both overlooking villages of the Alpine foothills and the stunning Mediterranean Sea.
Particularly preserved, Mougins is bathed in the most amazing light; its narrow streets wind down in a spiral, like a snail’s shell, in a quiet and out of time atmosphere.

Mougins, a touch of Beverly Hills
The serenity of the village has always attracted stars and artists. Since the 19th Century, many famous artists fell in love with Mougins: Francis Picabia, Fernand Léger, Paul Eluard, Jean Cocteau, Isadora Duncan, Man Ray. But the most famous is undoubtedly Pablo PICASSO who moved permanently to Mougins in 1962. He spent there the final 12 years of his life with his last wife Jacqueline, in his villa overlooking the bay of Cannes, near the wonderful Chapel ‘Notre-Dame de Vie’.
More recently, celebrities such as Christian Dior, Jacques Brel, Edith Piaf, Yves Saint Laurent, Paul Anka, Catherine Deneuve and many others spent their holidays in Mougins.

Mougins, capital of Gastronomy and Art of Living
Mougins has long been THE prestigious meeting place for gourmets. In the eighties, the famous French chef Roger Vergé owned “L’Amandier” and “Le Moulin de Mougins”. Awarded with 5 Michelin stars, his legendary Cuisine du Soleil, made Mougins worldwide famous. During the Film Festival of Cannes, “Le Moulin de Mougins” hosted for several years the prestige dinner of the American Foundation for AIDS Reaseach (AMFAR), presided by Elizabeth Taylor, then by Sharon Stone.
In 1992, Mougins became the most Michelin starred town in France, counting seven stars! “Les Etoiles de Mougins”, International Festival of Gastronomy and Art of Living was launched in 2006 as a tribute to Roger Vergé. This festival quickly became a landmark in the French gastronomic landscape. Each year in September, the village is transformed into an enormous open-air theatre with demonstrations, culinary shows and show cookings orchestrated by the best chefs of the world for a passionate public. Golf courses
Mougins hosts two of the most beautiful golf courses of Europe: the Royal Mougins Golf Club and the Golf Country Club Cannes-Mougins, surrounded by a luxurious nature. The ideal setting for a magical golfing holiday!

‘L’Etang de Fontmerle’ (Fontmerle Pond)
Mougins is an exception on the Côte d’Azur as 50% of its land consists of parks and woodlands, official ‘green’ zones where building is not permitted.
‘L’Etang de Fontmerle’ is a remarkable pond of 5 hectares in a beautiful landscape with an exceptional fauna as this lake hosts the most important colony of lotus flowers in Europe (Nelumbo Nucifera). More than 70 species of birds live there all year and some ducks overwinter in and around the pond, whilst others, like the purple heron, arrive in Spring.
