'Boutique Ports' project highlights the key role and quality services of several Western Mediterranean 'boutique' cruise ports, all being members of MedCruise.
The ports involved in this initiative are Costa Brava Cruise Ports (Palamós) and Delta Ebre Port; the Balearic Port Authority, with the port of Mahón (Spain), the French Riviera Chamber of Commerce, with the port of Nice; the Port Authority of Piombino and Elba, with the port of Portoferraio (Italy), the Port Authority of Northern Sardinia, with the port of Porto Torres (Italy); and the port of Sète (France).
In recent times, the need for cooperation and synergies among ports and destinations has emerged, in order to create added value for the cruise industry. In this context, the above small and mid-sized -in terms of cruise passengers- ports of the Western Mediterranean have joined forces and theit attractive destination on the 'Boutique Ports' project.
This unique initiative aims to jointly promote itineraries and destinations, through a service catalogue that offers high-end standards for cruise tourists, with a view to attracting more luxury cruise lines.Targeting a highly demanding upper-middle-class clientele used to sailing on board luxury cruise ships in search of unique destinations, 'Boutique Ports' project communicates to the cruise world the enormous potential of the cruise destinations involved in the initiative.
It also highlights the fact that in these ports cruise passengers have the opportunity to visit cultural, historical and natural attractions of unique beauty, enjoying at the same time a high quality personalised experience.
The French Riviera Cruise Club is launching a new challenge for 2016!Tuesday, 19 January 2016
To reward the French Riviera ports’ outstanding cruise line companies of 2015, “French Riviera Cruise Club awards” will be given in the following four categories:
- the best ambassador for the French Riviera
- the most unusual excursion suggestion
- the most successful operational challenge carried out in one of our ports
- the most environmentally-friendly initiative
The winner of each award will be decided by the French Riviera Cruise club according to various criteria.
The awards of Best Ambassador and Most Unusual Excursion will be determined on the basis of the websites and catalogues of each cruise line.
The award for the most successful Operational Challenge will be decided after studying the logistic conditions of each company’s calls in our ports. Finally, the Green award will be decided on the basis of the environmental questionnaires sent to cruise ships.
The winners of each award will be honored with a VIP reception held on French Riviera, while the winner of the Green Award will also receive a reduction on port fees for calls made in 2016.
These cruise awards will be attributed to the winning cruise lines during Seatrade Cruise Global event in Fort Lauderdale next March.

Gastronomy Festival in Villefranche/MerWednesday, 30 Septembre 2015
On September 26th, the French Riviera Cruise Club, , also celebrated the gastronomy festival in Villefranche sur mer , whose is one of the founder member, exceptionally on board of the Vision of the seas. In collaboration with the cruise line Royal Caribbean International, the restaurant “Mayssa” and the agency So between, a convivial lunch, chaired by Liz Lauritzen the captain brought all together around a table several hosts of the French Riviera Cruise Club, of RCI and some crew members.
The menu, a mixture of flavors, was concocted by the Chef Stéphane Barbet from the restaurant Mayssa in Villefranche sur mer, recently rewarded ,and the Chef on board the ship Vision of the seas, Paul Fong, for the great pleasure of the happy guests .
This “Captain lunch “illustrates well that the art of the gastronomy can be shared et enjoyed without borders.

Anthem of the seas : a day of celebration in Villefranche-sur-merFriday, 31 July 2015
The port and the city of Villefranche-sur-mer, were very pleased to welcome the new flagship Anthem-of-the-seas for the second time this season.
More than 100 stores identified by pennants " Welcome to Cruise Passengers " welcomed 5000 passengers and crew members of this ship of exception. Passengers got a privileged welcome, commercial discounts, discovery of the city on the theme of the local flavors, the cinema and the shopping. On that special day, the passengers and crew were invited to browse in Villefranche-sur-mer and discover all French Riviera sensations with music and local animations.
This a long time story between Royal Caribbean International and Villefranche-sur-mer since, for many years, most of the fleet RCI is calling in our French Riviera ports and with the new ship Anthem-of-the-seas with the latest novelties on board, but also with its size and capacity, the French Riviera Cruise Club is proud to respond once more to this new challenge.
To provide the best experience and memories to the guests and crew, the French Riviera Cruise Club main motivation is to keep deploying all the best welcome and services possible.
Le Ponant, three-masted sailing ship of Ponant company, celebrates 20 seasons of calls in the port of NiceFriday, 31 July 2015
Le Ponant was one of the first cruise sailing ships tying up in the port of Nice.
A loyalty anchored in the passing seasons as, every summer from May to October, cruise guests embark on the sailing ship in the port of Nice for Mediterranean itineraries.
16 000 guests enjoyed the nearly 250 calls made in the port of Nice these 20 past years.
On July 6th, the city and the port of Nice have celebrated this anniversary on board, with the crew and the guests of the sailing ship.
On this occasion, festivities all day long with a cocktail offered on board for local authorities and partners where presents were exchanged. The passengers could also enjoy all day long music and local food degustation.
This long-term relationship seal the years of loyalty between the French cruise line Ponant company and the Port of Nice.
FRCC Green Award 2015 - Environmental initiative of the Year!Wednesday, 03 June 2015
In urban areas, it is particularly important to adopt a “green approach” to protect our sites of natural beauty, the treasures of our heritage, and to respect the local population.
Ports of Nice-Villefranche Santé and Cannes have adopted the ISO 14001 environmental management standard for all their activities.
The French Riviera Cruise Club is acutely aware of the importance of protecting the environment, particularly the marine environment.
For the fifth year, the French Riviera Cruise Club will present the FRCC Green Award to the most environmentally friendly ship calling on the French Riviera in 2015.
We must act together and we must act now :
Find out if your ship is environmentally friendly by presenting us a technical innovation or an initiative developed by your company or on your ship in order to respect environment !
Participation closes on 31st December 2015 and the award will be presented in 2016.
The jury will be composed by members of the FRCC comity.
The winner will gain a price deduction on 2016 call.

Open door on French Riviera destination for crew members of cruise shipsWednesday, 27 May 2015
One of the latest services from the FRCC (French Riviera cruise club) is the tourist information guide specially designed for crew members. The crew represents at least 20% of the ship’s capacity, and 80% of them leave the ship to explore the city by themselves which has a considerable economic impact.
When the cruise ships is calling in our French Riviera ports of Cannes, Nice and Villefranche-sur-mer, crew members can take advantage of this personalized guide to locate places that cater for their specific needs within walking distance of the port.
This new service adds to the range of tourist information created by the French Riviera cruise club for the cruise passengers in order for them to discover all the different flavors
of our destination. This includes the FRCC web site www.frcc.fr, smartphone application, tourist information sheets with all the potential of sightseeing from each port.
While it is obviously important to provide the best welcome to cruise passengers we must also look after the satisfaction of the crew, who are some of the cruise destination’s best ambassadors.
