Picasso Exhibition in Cannes

Friday, 21 June 2013

The summer exhibition at the Art Centre, “Picasso, le nu en liberté” (“Picasso, Nudity Set Free”), takes place as one of the events organised around the commemoration of the fortieth anniversary of the painter’s death. This new concept is at the heart of “Les Chemins du Sud”, (“Routes of the South”), the second edition of a photographic journey through Picasso’s life, consisting of enlargements of original images by André Villers, Henri Traverso and the photographer Lucien Clergue. Printed on stretched tarpaulins, the images sensitively and humorously cover the highlights of the painter’s life in three Mediterranean towns, Vallauris, Cannes and Mougins, where Picasso and his wife Jacqueline lived from 1962, in one of the last of his homes also used as his studio in Notre-Dame-de-Vie.
